Protecting Environmental Defenders: A Dynamic and Impactful Workshop in Jakarta
On June 2–3, 2025, GGI, in partnership with our local allies Auriga Nusantara, hosted a dynamic two-day workshop in Jakarta focused on strengthening protection for environmental defenders. Participants from across Indonesia—working in law, advocacy, journalism, and grassroots organizing—traveled to Jakarta to take part in this timely and much-needed training.
With threats against defenders on the rise—including 133 documented cases by Auriga Nusantara between 2014 and 2023—the workshop addressed urgent challenges and gave participants practical tools to respond to risks in their day-to-day work.
Structured over two focused days, the program tackled four key areas of threat:
Physical Security
Cyber Security
Legal and Reputational Threats
Psychological Threats
